about me
Ness Bass (she/her)
hello, nice to meet you
I'm Ness, a human-centred graphic designer, currently freelancing as a mid-weight graphic designer, open to working on new and exciting projects.
I graduated with my BA(Hons) in Graphic Design degree at Nottingham Trent University in 2019, after completing a one-year art foundation in Brighton where I grew up. My experience of studying design has challenged me to push myself out of my comfort zone and find out what I love about it. When approaching a brief I always find that the main focus for me is the relationship it will have with the people receiving it, I'm not immediately visualising the aesthetic but instead what its wider personal effect could be. Whether that is to emote the feeling of a hands-on experience such as Letterpress or to simply cheer someone up who's going through a breakup. The design has a purpose however big or small and I'm always excited to be a part of that.
I moved to Edinburgh a few months after graduating and started working as a Junior Designer at Guy & Co, a Creative & Research Agency, from September 2019 - July 2021. Working within a team of like-minded individuals developed my skillset to work within industry standards, dealing with tight deadlines and fast turnarounds. After leaving my full-time position to work towards my second love, art education, I decided to become self-employed under 'NessBassGraphics' in August 2021, where I continued to freelance for a variety of clients. I completed my PGCE in Post-16/Further Education where I taught Graphic Design in June 2023. I am now based in Yorkshire where I am continuing to freelance while working in Student Support at an Art University.
